An array of exotic animals can be found migrating to Avenue Veterinary Centre
Any out-of-the-ordinary pets, from tortoises to alpacas, are described as exotic animals – some being more exotic than others!
Caring for an exotic animal is a huge responsibility as their living conditions are often very different than that required by more traditional pets. Some exotic animals like a dry and hot environment whilst others need water to splash about in.
The senior vet of the Avenue Veterinary Centre, Peter Creber, has a keen interest in the care and environmental conditions exotic animals require to thrive.
Peter is very experienced in dealing with all types of exotic pets and enjoys helping owners to achieve the best conditions for their pet to live in as well as providing treatment and surgery where required.
Unfortunately by the time many exotic species are showing signs of being unwell they are already very sick indeed so it is especially important to get them checked out quickly.
If you have a reptile, and it has to be hospitalised, it will be kept in a vivarium where temperature, day length and humidity can be controlled. This is critical if treatment of very sick patients is going to have a chance of success.
