Peter Creber BVSC MRCVS – Clinical Director & Senior Vet
Peter was born and educated in Cornwall, prior to heading up north to Bristol to study for his veterinary degree.
Peter started his first veterinary role at the Avenue Road surgery (then part of the Gables Veterinary Group). In 1990 he took a year’s sabbatical to work as a locum vet in various parts of New Zealand, before returning to Malvern to become a partner in the practice.
The Gables Veterinary Group amicably split into its individual branches in 1998, and Malvern became the Avenue Veterinary Centre with Peter in partnership with Willie Campbell. When Willie retired in 2006 Peter took on the role of owner and director of the practice.
Peter lives in West Malvern. He is married to Sarah and they have three children, Tom, David and Rosie. At present they have a spaniel collie cross called Ziggy and a elderly Springer spaniel called Meg.
Recently Peter has purchased, with members of his family, a small area of oak woodland in the Wye Valley with the aim of managing it and improving it as a wildlife habitat. An exciting project!
Jonathan Tuthill BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS – Clinical Director & Vet
Jon grew up in Malvern and attended The Chase High School prior to going to The Royal Veterinary College, London, to study for his veterinary degree. After ‘seeing practice’ as a student at the Avenue Veterinary Centre, Jon started with us as a fully qualified vet shortly after qualifying in 2008. He became a director of the practice in 2015.
Jon lives in Malvern Wells with his wife Emer, and their son’s Paddy & George. Emer worked at the practice for a couple of years before going on maternity leave. They have a wide selection of pets, including a very handsome Labrador called Dougal, Dottie the Shih-Tzu, and Molly the cat. They also have a selection of chickens, and two ponies. They have recently started the renovation of derelict farmhouse that will keep them busy for a few years at least! Jon’s other hobbies include cycling, gardening, and travelling.
Clare Johnson BVM&S MRCVS – Vet
Clare grew up in Worcestershire, but then travelled north of the border to study in Edinburgh. After initially working in North Staffordshire, she joined Avenue Veterinary Centre for “just” a year in 1994. However, more than 20 years later she is still loving her job in Malvern.
She considers herself part of the fixtures and fittings and enjoys all aspects of her job.
Clare is married and has a daughter aged 13. She has 9 dogs, 6 ferrets and a horse to keep her busy. She enjoys competing her horse and running in her spare time, along with being a mummy.
Hannah Jones BVMS (Hons) MRCVS – Vet
Hannah grew up on a dairy farm in South Worcestershire and attended Hanley Castle High School before moving up to Glasgow Veterinary School for her veterinary degree. She qualified from Glasgow in summer 2010 and started full time at Avenue Veterinary Centre in September of that year. Hannah enjoys all aspects of mixed veterinary practice but has a particular interest in small animal medicine.
Hannah lives on her parents’ farm where she keeps her horses, which she is passionate about riding and competing, especially eventing. Hannah also has a little black and tan terrier called Todd.
Daisy Newey BVM&S MRCVS – Vet
Daisy joined us part time in May 2017. Daisy grew up in Warwickshire before moving to Edinburgh to undertake her veterinary studies. She qualified in 2001 and since then has worked in a number of practices in Warwickshire and Northumberland. She enjoys all aspects of small animal practice but has a special interest in small animal surgery and is currently studying for her Advanced Veterinary Practitioner Certificate. She is also a Veterinary Acupuncturist.
Outside work she previously enjoyed travelling until the arrival of her three children and is now kept busy with them and her two Labradors Echo and Ruby and cat Mindy. She has swapped exploring the world to campervanning the UK!
Carole Terrasse BVetMed MRCVS – Vet
Carole was born in a small town in France but grew up in Brazil. She obtained a degree in Animal Health and Disease in Canada before studying Veterinary Medicine in London. She qualified in the midst of the pandemic and started working at Avenue Veterinary Centre just a few months later.
Carole has a soft spot for cats and has a special interest in cardiology. On her days off you can find her on the hunt for a nice café to curl up in with a book, serenading her cat with her guitar or planning her next trip abroad.
Clare Wells RVN – Head Veterinary Nurse (Administration)
Clare started nursing in 1991 in a practice in Evesham, joining the Avenue Veterinary Centre in June 1993. She qualified at the end of that year having studied at Bristol Veterinary University. After a short time, Clare became Head Nurse, a role which she carried out for 6 years before leaving to have her daughter. She then returned as a Veterinary Nurse. Clare has now returned to the role of Administrative Head Nurse.
Clare enjoys playing the piano, cooking, eating and then walking it off on the hills with her family and small terrier, Bandit.
Stephanie Burton RVN – Head Veterinary Nurse
Steff started working at the Avenue Veterinary Centre in November 2015 after working in practice for 5 years in Ross-On-Wye. She became Head Nurse in 2017. Steff is a Clinical Coach training Student Veterinary Nurses and has gained a certificate in Canine and Feline Oral Nursing Care running nursing clinics and performing preventative scale and polish procedures.
She lives with her husband and son Ollie and has a beautiful Cocker Spaniel called Damson to keep her and her Jack Russell Terrier Massey company. Her main hobby is to show her family’s Ryeland sheep at agricultural shows. In 2015 they won Breed Champion at the Royal Welsh Show.
Steff equally enjoys working with large and small animals and looks forward to meeting them all.
Amie Lockley – Registered Veterinary Nurse
Amie started working at Avenue Veterinary Centre in 2019 after training and working in practice in Ledbury for 3 years.
Amie is a Clinical Coach training Animal Care Assistants and Student Veterinary Nurses.
She has a keen interest in small animals and lives with her partner, dog, two cats, a rabbit, two guinea-pigs and a various hamsters. In her spare time, Amie likes to keep fit through running and various other sports.
Charlotte Mash – Student Veterinary Nurse
Charlie started with us in September 2017 as a Veterinary Care Assistant and started training as a Student Veterinary Nurse in September 2018. She has previously undertaken a years work experience with us, as well as working in a pet shop and with a variety of exotic animals.
Animals are a passion and Charlie enjoys horse riding and walking her 2 dogs, Lady and Duke, along the River Severn. She also owns a cat, 2 rabbits and new addition “Terry” the 65 years young tortoise! Charlie is enjoying her position here at Avenue and looks forwards to furthering experience with pets and their owners!
Milly Brazdys – Student Veterinary Nurse
Milly joined us in February 2019 in her first year of training but with over 5 years of experience in Veterinary Practice as nursing assistant. Milly enjoys Critical Care and Emergency nursing.
Milly lives at home with her fiance Will and is due to be married in 2021 (Covid-allowing!) Milly rescued an abandoned 3 month old whippet who was brought into the practice in September 2019 adding to her collection of animals at home!
Fiona Fearnley ANA – Nursing Assistant and Grooming
In 2005, we welcomed Fiona to a work experience placement that enabled her to study for a 2 year HNC in animal welfare.
After completing the HNC she continued to work at the Avenue Veterinary Centre and undertook a home study course to become an Animal Nursing Assistant (ANA). Fiona now works part time as a fully qualified ANA.
In 2015, she completed a Level 3 Dog Grooming City and Guilds qualification at Evesham Dog Grooming Academy. Along side her Assistant Nursing she will be running ‘The Avenue Groom Room’ and looks forward to this new chapter in her animal loving career.
While at home, she enjoys reading, drawing and painting (animals), calligraphy and all kinds of crafts. Fiona also enjoys picnics in the sunshine and sledging in the snow.
Wendy Smith – Practice Manager
Wendy grew up in Worcestershire and joined Avenue Vet Centre (Gables Vet Group at the time) in 1989 working part-time on a Saturday and sharing weekend duties with the nurses.
Wendy’s role as practice manager involves keeping the accounts in order and assisting Peter with the day to day running of the practice.
Wendy also enjoys working on reception in the afternoons welcoming new and existing clients chatting to them and their pets and helping them with their requirements.
Wendy Lives in Malvern with her husband Jonathan and her Jack Russell “Buck”, Cocker Spaniel “Chester” and not forgetting “Bobby” the budgie.
In her spare time Wendy enjoys walking her dogs, DIY, sewing and socialising.
Sylvia Warby ANA – Veterinary Receptionist
Sylvia joined our reception team in January 2016, after many years experience in veterinary practice in Worcestershire.
Sylvia lives in Malvern and has a rescue black cat called Chester. In her spare time she enjoys cycling.
Sally Dixon – Veterinary Receptionist
Sally joined Avenue Vets in January 2020. She has always been interested in animals; starting with a zoology degree from Swansea University and then specialising in dog behaviour at Southampton University. She has worked with animals for over 20 years in various roles including veterinary nursing for 5 years and running her own dog walking business. Sally has also worked for and continues to volunteer at Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter. After other various roles such as human nursing, sales representative and medical secretary she now puts her skills with humans and animals together as a veterinary receptionist.
Sally has two children, three dogs and a collection of chickens. What free time she has left she spends on her passion for reading.
Lora Ward – Veterinary Receptionist
Lora joined Avenue Vets in September 2020 and has been working in customer service for over 12 years. Being the first point of call is a job she is very much suited to and enjoys. Lora has also completed NVQ Level 3’s in Customer Service and Reception as well as attending training courses along the way.
Having lived in Malvern all her life, she has always had cats as part of her family, taking in 10 strays over the years. She has a particular soft spot for the older feline friends and black cats.
Lora lives at home with her husband, son and not forgetting the new additions to the family, Leo and Luna, tabby kittens which are keeping the family entertained with their sibling antics.
